Clubs & Organizations
The Ecology Club was established in 2006 at the request of sixteen students
involved in the design and construction of Fayette Academy’s outdoor
classroom, Mary Margaret’s Garden. Their goal of the club’s establishment was
to ensure a sustainable future for this hands-on learning environment.
The club consists of high school students in good academic standing who are
dedicated to promoting environmental stewardship and awareness. The club
integrates science, leadership, and team-building, with meaningful community
service to enrich the learning experience.
This club is a youth-driven initiative governed by a board of fifteen. The club
establishes annual data driven goals and objectives. Members are required to
attend the mandatory annual retreat during fall break at Brandon Springs
Environmental Learning Center located inside Land Between the Lakes (LBL)
national recreational area. Members must log twenty-five environmental service
hours per semester. Members of the club are required to conduct one annual
fundraiser to fund the elementary mentoring programs. Annual dues are $150
and includes all trip fees to LBL and a club t-shirt. For more detail on the club’s
programs please visit donnaburrus.wix.com/faecologyclub.
The Ecology Club is sponsored by Donna Burrus, Melissa Norwood, and Terri
